Behavioral Health Technician Lead – Residential Services

NOC Shift Sunday - Thursday 
Hiring Range: $22.67 - $27.78 per hour

Up To An Additional $1.25/Hour In Shift Differentials

Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician Lead to provide training and support for Behavioral Health Techs (BHTs). In this role, you will collaborate with the team and Residential Services Supervisor to oversee administrative activities, ensuring a safe milieu for our clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise BHTs in their work, including training, coaching, and evaluating their completion of assigned tasks and associated paperwork.
  • Ensure the use of trauma-informed communication during client interactions.
  • Oversee timely and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Provide professional communication through email, telephone, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to BHTs, meeting all expectations.
  • Collaborate with Supervisor to provide regular individual and group supervision with BHTs.
  • Document and maintain confidential records of supervisions and significant interactions.
  • Provide ongoing individual training and coaching as needed, ensuring newly hired BHTs are oriented to the team.
  • Participate in interviews for BHTs and complete assigned performance appraisals within agency standards and timelines.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of milieu acuity and client risk, collaborating with RS Supervisor for effective de-escalation.
  • Ensure adequate staffing per shift according to protocol, leading unit pass downs and providing relevant client and milieu information to oncoming BHT Lead.
  • Conduct regular chart audits of BHT documentation to ensure compliance with all relevant WACs.
  • Model appropriate techniques and behavior, including evidenced-based behavioral interventions, communication with staff and clients, Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), and professionalism.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

LICENSURE: Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration or ability to obtain after hire.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health field or equivalent experience in Behavioral Health.

EXPERIENCE: Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)

Inpatient/residential work experience, supervisory experience, and teaching ability.

Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
